Music
Posted by admin on January 25th, 2006My musical influences are very broad. From Salsa music back in my early 13s with “The Gran Combo” to punk/Heavy Metal music with Pixies, Pestilencia, Kraken, Darkness, Los Toreros Muertos, Europe, and Skid Raw in my 15ths. Trash Metal with Slayer, Metallica in my 18ths. Then I got hooked by Perl Jam, Sugar (Bob Mould), Los Caifanes, STP, Alice, and Red Hot in my 20’s. Now in my early 30s, I still like PJ, Muse, Strokes, Norah Jones, DMB, Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Brazil MPB, and Spanish Rock. On a daily basis, I like listening to a good and compact musical ensemble or band, regardless of the style or music type.
I admire versatile musicians capable of performing in any style. I respect all the different tropical and Latin styles because of their complexity and uniqueness. Styles such as Vallenato, Salsa, Cumbia, Samba, Reggae, Joropo, Bambuco, Ranchera, Bosanova, Trova.
In this section, I will be periodically posting my songs, and I will really appreciate all of your comments.
Florida
A song for the land that has given me so much during all these years.
Stop & Face it
When everything seems to be lost, or when you need to fix that issue, the one that keep us looking away, we need to stop, and face it. Played with Fender strato, POD brit dist, Reason Drums kit (Tom) and Ibanez Gio Bass.
Rio Negro (Black River).
An ode to Rio Negro, Antioquia. A place to get away, relax and feed the spirit. I used my Takamine G Series electroacoustic, Fender strato with slide and reason Grand Old Piano module played with a Roland XP-10.Â
En Singular
David Montoya brings another great song to me, and I just wanted to dance and play guitar ta the same time. Something very “Santanesco”. I Used Fender strato, POD brit distorsion and a takamine electroacoustic.
Amor En Soledad
David Montoya brings this great song to me, and then I thought, this is a great track, I helped with main percussion and guitars. I used Reason and PRS guitar.
Oceans (Oceanos)
The track was created with diverse percussion samples and I play the piano part with the XP10. Bass and guitar still under development
Revisiting
Revisiting is just a name to remember good old days. I love the fender+line6 sound, and as you’ll notice, is the lead melody of the song. I played the bass and sequenced the drums with 2 different drums patters mixed and some percussion. The background guitar is the Takamine and the PRS with the korg PX4. Also at the postchorus there is a customized Old Grand Piano that I really like and will probably use in a new song.
The Endless Life of The Universe (Tarde en la Ciudad)
This is an old composition that I wanted to materialize and it happens to be the first pick for this project. I play guitars, Bass and synths. The drums are programmed via software. I still have some revisions to do do on this song, specially the percussion part, I think it could be greatly inproved. Vocals/lyrics are still “under construction”.
Galactik Mood (Galactica)
This song is inspired in a swedish band and a really cool beat that I “stole” from them. I still have more ideas to improve the overall production and feeling of the music that I guess will vary with the lyrics. This is my first song with a help from the new software sequencers. I play Bass and Clean guitar with the Fender Stratocaster.
Windstorm (Ventarron)
Just an initial test, recorded with Audacity, but a better track to come. Played with…… fender strato, korg px4 digital delays clean and distorsion, and a processed Cello to give the celtic enviroment. I just let it go..one(or two) shot recording….pretty raw, though.
